Artist Bio:
Laird's interest in forging steel into sculpture began after resurrecting a Buffalo forge blower from a scrap pile at a farm sale in 2001. Using both traditional blacksmithing and modern metalworking techniques, Laird creates artistic sculptures from the earth's offerings of metal, rock and wood. Nature's asymmetrical balance and constant change are an endless source of inspiration for his original artwork, which can be seen in the almost spiritual grace of his kinetic and static sculptures.
Artist Statement:
Hand-forged steel kinetic sculpture (indoor and outdoor). Many have balance points and move freely.
