Artist Bio:

I am John Devlin, a potter living in Le Grand, Iowa. I come from a family off potters in Colorado and have been involved with pottery most of my life. After retirement as a band director, my part-time pottery work became full time. I embed botanics in clay for very detailed fossil designs.

Artist Statement:

I embed a variety of leaves and grasses in wet clay as I create a piece. When fired the botanics leave very detailed fossil impressions which I enhance with a specific coloring and glazing technique, to complete my design. Each piece is signed and dated. No two are ever alike.
