Annual Electrophonic Show Scheduled at LNS

LINCOLN, NE – Electrophonic is an incredible combination of music, choreography, lights, rhythm & performance art and has become the pinnacle of instrumental performance at Lincoln North Star High School.  The production is modeled after performances like STOMP, BLAST and BLUE MAN GROUP where the movement of bodies and objects are choreographed to music, lights and sounds using everyday objects in non-traditional ways.  Past performances have used garbage cans, brooms, pvc pipe and even brake drums.

Skylark at the Foundation Garden

Join us for The Lincoln Community Foundation Garden Performance Series on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 12noon-1pm in the Lincoln Community Foundation Garden located at 1415 N Street for a live performance from Broad Appeal.

Broad Appeal, a women’s vocal trio which performs hits from the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s, will perform at Lincoln Community Foundation Garden on August 31 at noon.

If you yearn for the music of yesteryear, then you’ll want to tune into Broad Appeal. They capture the essence of the era through the glorious melodies of "Your Hit Parade," the popular show that brought the week's top songs to eager audiences gathered around their radios and televisions. Broad Appeal brings the hits and the stories behind them to life by intermixing a cappella arrangements and lively recorded band accompaniments.

The three singers, Julie Enersen, Anna Hanselmann and Laurie Lessman, first performed together twenty years ago in the Scarlet and Cream Singers at UN-L.

They then went on to amass impressive individual resumes as performers and vocal instructors. In December 2001, they reunited at the Lied Center to portray the Andrews Sisters in A Salute to Pearl Harbor and decided to continue singing together as Broad Appeal.

Past performances include singing for Heartland Honor Flight veterans, performing at the Foundation Gardens in Lincoln, being part of the Valentine's Day shows for the Lincoln Area Agency on Aging, and entertaining students at various grade schools. The venues and the audiences are varied, but the comments heard afterward are often the same: "They brought back so many great memories," "Their
blend was just amazing," "They really seem to love what they do."

With Hit Parade songs ranging from the obscure "Pink Shoe Laces" to the wildly popular "Sincerely," Broad Appeal charms diverse audiences with their rich harmonies and seamless blend.
