*Othello* Auditions

Flatwater Shakespeare will hold auditions for all roles in Shakespeare's Othello Thursday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday July 23 at 2:00 p.m. at The Haymarket Theatre, 803 Q St.  Actors who have been in previous Flatwater productions need not audition at this time, but please contact director Bob Hall to indicate interest: bob@bobhall.com.

Two memorized pieces are welcome or you may bring material to read -- one piece should be from Shakespeare. Alternatively, scenes from Othello will be available.  Othello will be presented at the Lincoln Community Playhouse's family theater Thursdays through Sundays, October 6 - 24.  Rehearsals will begin August 25.  We are seeking an actor of color to play Othello.

Casting call for Among Voices

Call for ArtistsOpen casting call on July 23, from 1-5pm  at Comfort Suites, 331 N. Cotner Blvd., Lincoln, NE.

Professional actors, 19 years of age to senior,  are needed to perform monologues for Among Voices.  These will be paid performances.  Shoot dates will be arranged.

For the audition, prepare a monologue a few minutes in length.   Call 402-499-4462 for an appointment time.

45th Annual Cathedral of the Risen Christ Art Show

You are invited to apply for the 45th Annual Cathedral of the Risen Christ Art Show and Sale scheduled for October12-16, 2011.   There will be activities and events celebrating the past, present, and future the Cathedral Art Show and Sale at this 45th anniversary.  We invite you to be a part of this celebration.

The show is a juried show limited to original art or their reproductions, all of which must be for sale. If you are a returning artist, welcome back, we encourage you to include new designs as well as the reliable ones from the past to keep the art show fresh and exciting.   If you are new to the Cathedral Art Show and Sale please consider applying.  In the past artists have found it beneficial to include art pieces in a variety of prices to appeal to the variety of clientele the show attracts.

Call for submissions - Bittersweet: Finding Hope in the Midst of Despair

Images and stories exploring social irony are even more important in trying times.  These works can encourage people to exercise and develop their imagination, their sense of interconnectedness, and most importantly, their understanding of friends and neighbors that are struggling to get by. To enhance the public discourse with visual and literary commentary on social processes and mechanisms, we may begin to address local inadequacies that many Nebraskans face in realizing the American dream.

We are planning an exhibition that will celebrate the exceptional work of talented professional, amateur, and student artists, writers, photographers, poets, and songwriters from Nebraska on this subject.

Call for Artists-Governor's Residence Exhibiton Program

Governor's ResidenceThe Governor's Residence Exhibition Program, managed by the Nebraska Arts Council, seeks two-dimensional visual artists for its 2011-2012 exhibition season. Located on the lower level of the Nebraska Governor's Residence in Lincoln, this venue hosts ongoing monthly solo exhibitions of resident Nebraska artists.

Applications are now being taken online via SlideRoom, our arts application review service provider. Artists create an account on the site, and then complete the application form and upload digital images as directed. There is no charge for artists to submit applications for this project.
