TADA Theatre presents Avenue Q

The hot show of the summer takes place indoors starting July 12th! TADA Productions, Inc. begins its 2012-13 series as one of the first theatres in the region to be granted the rights to the smash hit musical Avenue Q.

Winner of the TONY for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. This Sesame Street meets South Park musical is a laugh-out-loud theatrical production that tells the story of a bright-eyed young man and recent college grad named Princeton, who moves to NYC with big dreams and a tiny bank account. Once he settles into his shabby apartment, all the way out on Avenue Q, he meets an array of colorful characters including Kate (the girl next door), Rod (the Republican), Trekkie (the Internet sexpert), the building superintendent Gary Coleman (yep, we talkin' bout that Gary Coleman), Lucy the Slut (need we say more?), and other colorful types who help Princeton finally discover his purpose in life!

The cast includes Spencer Wolfe as Princeton and Rod, Kaylie Wilson as Kate Monster, Curtis Moeller as Nicky, Matt Works as Trekkie Monster, Cris Rook as Lucy, Ladd Wendelin as Brian, Mrs. T. Erin Mills as Christmas Eve, Greg Ward as Gary Coleman, Michael Booton as Boy Bad Idea Bear and Danielle Nelson as Girl Bad Idea Bear. Avenue Q features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, book by Jeff Whitty, based on an original concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, and is directed by Robert D. Rook with musical direction by Cris Rook, choreography by Mandi Maser, musical accompaniment lead by Bill Strongin, scenic design by Robert Rook and Chuck Danskin, video design by Morgan Smith, production management by Megan Rook, assistant direction by Jaci Manning, properties by Ladd Wendelin and production assistance by Larcy Shaw.

Avenue Q opened off-broadway at the Vineyard Theatre in March 2003, where it gained rave reviews, and was extended four times! It won the 2003 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding New Musical, as well as a nomination for the 2003 Outer Critics Circle Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical award. It began previews at the Golden Theatre on July 11th, 2003, with a July 31, 2003 opening. Winner of the TONY® "triple crown" for best musical, best score and best book, Avenue Q is a crowd favorite.

Avenue Q is on stage at The TADA Theatre July 12-15, July 19-22, July 26-29, August 2-5 with curtain times Thursday-Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $20.00 (Friday-Saturday), $18.00 (Thursday and Sunday), student tickets are $15.00. Due to adult situations (and full-puppet nudity) parental guidance is advised.
