Thompson returned to her hometown after college in New York, graduate school in Kansas and a five-year stint working in politics and journalism in Washington, D.C. She's the founding editor of L Magazine, the recipient of a Mayor's Arts Award in 2005. This year, Pam's husband Peter Heckman, a former board member of LAC and a Mayor's Arts Award winner for the Stories of Home project, was a judge for the awards. Pam was a judge in 2009. She is the past president of the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center and MEDICI boards. Pam currently is president-elect of the Nebraska Repertory Theatre board, a Lincoln Symphony Orchestra Board member and on the board of directors for Downtown Rotary Club #14. Besides writing theatre and book reviews for the Lincoln Journal Star, she works in the communications department at NET Television and Radio.
