The instrumentation of our group is based on the classical wind quintet: flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon, but GPCW performs on occasion with larger or smaller groups, and occasionally with other instruments.

    Lincoln Organ Showcase is a standing committee of the Lincoln Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Its purpose is to promote appreciation and enjoyment of the pipe organ and its literature. LOS co-sponsors concerts featuring the organ in Lincoln churches and institutions of higher education. The series also offers support for organ recitals within church-sponsored series, and strives to offer educational opportunities for young piano and organ students.

    The Monday Night Big Band is supported by the Capital Jazz Society. Regular Monday night sessions have provided an opportunity for thousands of musicians to sight-read and perform a variety of big band jazz literature over the years. Musicians are encouraged to sit in and are provided an opportunity to play or solo with the MNBB. The line-up has included musicians from middle school to seasoned professionals and is usually a good mix of musicians aged 17-50+

    The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra was founded in 1975 and is one of the Midwest’s premier big bands, celebrating over 25 years of great performances. The ensemble’s concerts feature a variety of traditional big band compositions by jazz masters such as Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, and Count Basie, reflecting the rich legacies of the Mississippi Basin territory bands. The ensemble also adds to this legacy by performing new compositions and arrangements regularly.

    The Nebraska Symphony Chamber Orchestra (NSCO) is made up of professional musicians from the Lincoln and Omaha areas, and has performed for the annual production of the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company’s Nutcracker at the Lied Center for Performing Arts since 1995. The NSCO has also performed for operas, musical productions and a variety of concerts throughout the area including special events for Nebraska Wesleyan University, Doane College and area churches.
