Mark your calendar for a special evening out, and raise a glass for artists in the schools.

Got any happy hour plans for Thursday, January 19? Here's a suggestion...

Cliff's Lounge is hosting the Giving Spirits outing on the evening of January 19. Giving Spirits is the brainchild of Lori Armiger, who found a great way to mix her passion for philanthropy with a fun evening out with friends. On the third Thursday of each month from 5-8pm, Giving Spirits partners a local establishment with a local organization to raise funds for their cause. Your $10 cover gets you one complimentary drink, and 100% of the proceeds go to the beneficiary.

Giving Spirits has recently raised funds for several local charities, including the Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach program, the Food Bank of Lincoln's BackPack Program, and the Nebraska chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The January 2012 event will benefit the Lincoln Arts Council's Artist Residency program, which places artists in Lincoln-area schools to provide exceptional arts education experiences.

So make a note in your calendar for January 19 at Cliff's Lounge (that's 1323 O Street) from 5 to 8 pm; bring along a friend or two (or five) and mix philanthropy with fun. We hope to see you there!
