Lincoln Music Teachers Association Annual Meeting and M.U.S.I.C. (Music for UnderServed Interest Children) Endowment Fundraiser

Dr. Valerie Cisler to speak at LMTA’s Annual Meeting and kick-off Fund Raising Campaign for M.U.S.I.C. Endowment

The Lincoln Music Teachers Association will hold their annual kick-off luncheon at the Governor’s Mansion on August 31. Dr. Valerie Cisler, Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, will speak on “Music Mastery = Motivation”, a look at the impact of student mastery of practice and performance skills on motivation.

At this meeting, donors from LMTA as well as from the community will have the rare opportunity to become Charter Members of a new Endowment Society establishing a Donor Designated Fund through the Lincoln Community Foundation for the benefit of the Music Outreach Program. An anonymous donor has offered to match monetary donations up to $5,000 through December. The designated fund will be called the M.U.S.I.C. (Music for UnderServed Interested Children) Endowment. Income from the Endowment will be used to fund the LMTA Music Outreach Program for the benefit of school-aged children who desire to pursue music study. LMTA believes that students who receive mentoring in the form of lessons will eventually become good citizens and philanthropists.

LMTA and community members who wish to serve as Charter Members of the M.U.S.I.C. Endowment Society and participate in the official signing ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion must notify LMTA Treasurer Jessica Freeman at Treasurer@LMTA.info of their name and the amount of pledge by August 24th.  Checks will be collected at the luncheon and should be made out to “Lincoln Community Foundation” with a notation on the memo line “for LMTA designated fund.”  The cost of the 11:30 a.m. luncheon is $10 for reservations made before August 26th, and $20 for reservations made afterward. Reservations may be made at Treasurer@LMTA.info.
